Stiletto Storage

Ok. My apartment is probably 70% ready.

20% of the remainder deals with my shoes.

I have filled up my [small] closet with my work clothes, and I bought a clothes rack from IKEA for the rest of my wardrobe.

Please note that garments are also stored underneath my kids bed (NOTE 1), and stored inside my kids storage stool (NOTE 1).

I have NO room for shoes.

PANICKING.

I guess at least I don't have lobster shoes - like the ones above that recently premiered at Alexander McQueen's Paris fashion show ???

I can walk in pretty high heels - but these just look like honest torture.

Anyhoo - I have a short term solution to my shoe storage problem.

Actually this is Nicole's idea so I'm just stealing it (isn't Nicole the best!?!?!)

Keep all my work shoes at work!

I have a big drawer with a key....so nobody can steal them either... hehe GENIUS right???

I also remember one of my girlfriend's back in Vancouver who also kept a lot of shoes at work. She broke her leg and wasn't at work for like 3 months. When she came back it was like CHRISTMAS time because she found all these shoes that she had completely forgotten about !

Does anybody else do this?

hugs & [less cluttered] heels,
koko stiletto

NOTE 1: Kid's furniture is cheaper and smaller than adult furniture. And easier to carry on the NY subway. FACT.

Ouch those shoes do look tortuous! Those could cause permanent damage.

If you're sleeping in a kid's bed, I hope you got a speed racer bed.

Or a ninja turtle bed.

Koko, I'd say this for you, you are a mighty brave girl! Moving like that is no joke.
however, your plan of leaving some of the shoes at work is excellent. My wife, (almost like you, only about 300 pairs short still, she has about 70 pairs, talk about shoe crazy... high heels i might add) well she keeps an extra pair in the car, coz as you more than likely know, a shoe will break at the most impossible time. Then she has a pair handy in case she might need a pair.
I think your blog is super cool, love your pics and your honest way of describing what happens to you. I wish you everything of the best with your new flat, in the new city, may you be happy there and hope you find enough space to store all your shoes.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Colin.

Shoe storage IS a tricky one... I keep mine in huge Tupperware containers with photos on the end so I can remember which ones are where... totally anal, right?

Those McQueen platforms were insane, btw ~ lobster is an apt description!

When I saw those shoes, I was like, "Oh-my-gaaaaaah!!" They are sooo high!

Oh that's genius to store them at work- I've never thought of that before. I've also noticed that certain fashion ladies put them on shelves like art around their apartment. That might be a bit of a squeeze too- in which case a drawer sounds perfect!

ps- Agreed about those McQueens. I love/hate them somehow, but felt sorry for the models- they looked like they had to walk really slowly.
